Selective Memory

Even on a granite stone…
even there,
a photograph is needed.

Because a person
is not a date.
And not an ending.

When someone dies,
the need to see remains.
To look.
To recognise.

Selective memory.
It doesn’t preserve everything —
it preserves what matters.

“To come back to yourself.”
But were you there at all?
Where?
Within yourself.

I am learning to return.
I am learning to be present.

I can see
through limitations.
